Original title / Atıktan Heykele
A photographic journey through labour, transformation and sustainability.
Atıktan Heykele documents the transformation of discarded marble from the quarries of Marmara Island into works of sculpture. Photographed by Furkan Yaman and Nedim Bayhan, the project follows the shared labour of quarry workers and sculptors, tracing the material’s passage from industrial waste to artistic form.
Beginning in 2020, the process was documented inside the quarry and workshop for roughly a year. For Yaman, it brought together environmental engineering and photographic practice through a shared language of sustainability, labour and art.

↗The medium follows the idea.
The idea stays human.
Between the immediate and the enduring.
Photography, film, design or code only become useful after the people and context behind an idea are understood.
Visual rhythm, tone and technology work together to turn intent into a clear, memorable expression.
A multidisciplinary background makes the path from concept to production more direct, considered and coherent.
A fluid creative practice—working across disciplines without reducing ideas to a list of services.
